THE WORLD IS A CHALLENGE TO OUR FAITH.
The Lamb of God will lead you to springs of living water.
"El Manantial" is the name of the center where I work with children and youth with special needs. It means a spring of water gushing forth from its source. In this case the source is Christ and all of us are born from this source, with all of its crosses and blessings. These people with special needs are a great blessing from God. They have a lot of love and happiness to share with everyone they meet, a wonderful witness to the world.
Here at the center where I have been working for the past 3 years we work with these people who have a variety of disabilities. We teach them to be as independent as possible. We also teach them how to read, write and do other academic work, along with art and exercise. They also receive different types of therapies to help them to concentrate and work better.
We have one big fundraiser every year in May called a Kermes. We have many games, food and other items to sell and lots of entertainment. This year (2009) we had a mass and one of our young girls, Rubi, made her First Communion. About a week after this event we had a dinner thanking all those who helped out with the event. We also celebrated all the birthdays of that month. We have several other events throughout the year as well.
EFOK: OUR MISSION IN CAMEROON AFRICA Welcome to St. Joseph's our convent in Cameroon. We have just added another wing to receive new postulants this month.

One can imagine a conglomeration with numerous houses in the center! No! It is a Catholic mission with a church, 2 schools, a small seminary, the parochial premises, a hospital, a commercial center with some products of the village, and a modest grocer.
In the village Sr. Rene meets with a group of young women to teahc sewing to them. It is a catechism group so it begins with the Word of God.
On other days she visits the patients at the hospital and is always amazed at their welcome and that of their families! Someone from the family or friends provides the meals and bathing for those in the hospitals here.
In the numerous villages of the parish, one of Fr. Damase's projects is shaping up well; the ministry to the elderly, infirmed, bedridden. He counts on me to coordinate with a few others this mission. The Toyota we have will assist me. I embrace this mission with all my heart.
