We announce the entry into eternal life of the first superior of
our congregation, Sr. Mary John Maitre.  She went to heaven on Jan. 20, 2010.  Sr. Mary John was 90.  She had been superior from 1948-1973.  After her time as superior she spent several years in different communities in France, then came to our American community for nine years.  While here, she was inspired by the Lord to begin a community in Juarez Mexico.  That mission is continuing this day.  She served there for 6 years before returning to France, her country of origin and the place of our mother house.
May she continue to pray for new vocations for us and for all religious orders and for the priesthood.

VOCATIONS ABOUND:
COULD GOD BE CALLING YOU ALSO?

"Fan into a flame the gift you have been given." (Jn.)

In October we welcomed two new postulants to our novitiate in Cameroun Africa--Rose and Clementine.  Both of these young women have participated in vocation camps and mini retreats with us in the past year.  They join novice Yvone who will be professing her first vows in February.

They come from all walks of life, from all parts of the country, from different backgrounds, different experiences, but all with one common desire: To spend their life in service to our Lord out of love for the God who has loved them so much. They have heard the inner calling in their hearts--a calling that does not go away, but gets stronger with each prayerful moment, each act of serving others, each contact with God's people. And so they COME.

This year beginning in August we will have someone at every stage of formation: in the candidacy program, the postulancy, the novitiate, and in temporary vows.

We give thanks to God for these three new servants of the Lamb of God, and we invite others to pray about the possibility of being called to the religious life. What is it like? e-mail audrey@sistersofthelambofgod.org for more information.

From our mission in Juarez Mexico

In a certain activity, Rueben is now able to sit in a chair. (You see, our children are very limited).

Sometimes with the help of the teachers and aides, these children make little packages of sweets which their parents can sell to their neighbors or whoever they wish for ten pesos. And Sister Marie Carmen looks for small businesses where they can sell a few bags. This gives the children a sense of usefulness and pride.

September 3, 2009

I have been home in Owensboro for 2 months and I would like to share some news with you about the mission in Mexico.

When I left Juarez, the dormitory was just about done being built which means that now we have a lot of work to do. We need to find staff and residents for the dormitory. We also need to finish furnishing the dorm and other facilities such as the laundry room, so that we can begin using the dormitories within a few months.

During my time here I wrote an appeal letter and sent it out to many friends and family members. I am very grateful to the many people who donated money to help pay the salaries of the staff we will be hiring for the dormitory.

Sr. M. Carmen has also been keeping me updated with what is going on at "El Manantial." The therapy pool has been filled with water and is ready for use once we find a therapist who can work with our people. We have also been finding other ways of raising money too. We are opening the center on Saturdays for anyone who wished to do exercises for a small fee. We have exercise bikes and other equipment to do various types of exercise. We also have 4 chickens and a few rabbits for our people to help care for. We will eventually be cooking rabbit to sell.
